PETERSEN MEDIA- Back in action over the weekend at the I 69 Speedway in Gas City, IN, Isaac Chapple was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and ended up involved in someone else’s mess early in the night.
“We had a really good start in our heat race, but a car got over in front of us, and I got into the wall trying to avoid him, and really tore some stuff up, that hampered us all night,” he explained.
By way of pill draw, Chapple lined his CFH Enterprises/AR Jackson Plumbing/Brown’s Roofing entry up in the fourth row of his heat race. When the race got underway, Chapple flexed his muscle as he quickly got up into the fourth spot, but in front of him a car got into an infield tire and got upside down right in front of the Wilkinson, IN driver, and he made contact with the wall.
“We got into the wall trying to miss the accident, and really tore some stuff up on the back of the car,” he added.
With his crew thrashing to get him back on the speedway for the main event, Chapple would indeed make the call, but he quickly realized he did not have any brakes after his accident.
“Unfortunately when you crash like we did and have to thrash, some things get looked over, and I quickly realized we overlooked a break issue.”
Even with a battered car, Chapple decided to work the bottom of the speedway to get laps, and though it was not the night that he was looking for, he ended up being scored 12th.
“I have to thank everyone who got their hands on the car after our heat race wreck,” he said. “We had a great start to the race, and we felt really good, so I was excited for the night ahead. It happens in the sport, and we will just come back next week with the POWRi Series and see what we can do.”
